Cyprus Citizenship (passport)

Regulatory requirements for the acquisition of a Cypriot citizenship (passport).

A successful applicant must meet one of the following options:

  • Investment in financial assets of Cypriot companies or Cypriot organizations:
      Purchase of Financial assets of Cyprus registered companies and or organizations (debentures and or bonds and or securities) of at least €2 million; or   
  • Investment in real estate:
       Minimum €2 million for the purchase or construction of buildings or for the construction of other land development projects or
  • Participation or acquisition  of Cypriot companies:
      Investment of €2 million in companies listed and operating in the Republic of Cyprus with minimum 5 Cypriot citizens as employees; or
  • Combination of above criteria:
      A combination of the above 3 criteria of at least Euro 2 Million Within this criterion (combination of investments) the applicant may purchase special government bonds of the Republic of Cyprus, up to €500.000 which will be deducted from the initial€2 million investment. (Bonds purchased from the secondary market are not considered part of the criterion) 

  • Property 
      Applicants must purchase a residence in Cyprus, of at least €500,000,plus VAT. in addition to all other investments. If the purchase price of the permanent  residence in Cyprus exceeds the amount of €500,000 plus VAT, then additional amount over €500,000 can be deducted from the initial €2 million requested amount of the investment . The applicant must  retain the possession of the residence for life.
  • Investments duration
      Investments should remain in Cyprus for  at least three years from the day of acquisition of a Cypriot Passport.                                                                     I
Notes
  • The original application (M127) and all the required original documents are to be submitted at the Ministry of Interior. Along with the original application and documents, an additional photocopy of the application and all the documents should also be submitted.
  • All the documents issued by a foreign authority should be translated to either Greek or English and be duly authenticated (They should bear the stamp     «APOSTILE», if they are issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention, otherwise they should be sealed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the     issuing country and the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Cyprus in the issuing country).
  • The applicant must be 30 years old and over with a clean criminal record which he/ she must provide from his/ her country of residence, and has no obligation to stay in Cyprus.
  • The  parents,spouse and children under 18 years of the applicant can apply simultaneously and do not need to meet the financial criteria.
  • Children over the age of 18 up to 26   may also be granted Cypriot citizenship as long as they prove that they are students.
  • The applicant upon receipt of the Citizenship can either renounce his existing citizenship or keep it.
  • The time frame for completion from the day the application is deposited in the Ministry of interior is approximately 3  to 9 months
